The internet, as of today, is a very useful, neutral, and an open tool. Any business, non-profit organization, or individual can use the internet in anyway that they see fit. They can create a website, put up their videos, and stream a local radio station all with the same speed and quality. For example, a video posted online about the war in Iraq by a big company like NBC can be downloaded at the same speed and with the same quality as a video posted online by an a individual about how to twirl spaghetti.

What Internet Service Providers, like Comcast and Verizon, want to do is challenge network neutrality, making the internet an unfair playing field creating a restricted “fast lane” on the internet where their partners and companies who pay them a huge fee could use, making ISPs gatekeepers of the internet. For example, foxnews.com could pay Comcast and Verizon to use this “fast lane” making all of their content fast to access, and make small blog sites, like snyderblogs.com slower and harder to access. Many people would see this as giving Fox News a louder voice, making Snyder Blogs voice less important. The first amendment of the United States Constitution gives all Americans the right to speak freely. The Internet is based on this principal and has grown to the incredible tool it is today because of it. The internet gives the ideas of even the smallest person the same playing field as the ideas of big monopolies. Many believe that removing net neutrality, threatens free speech that our Constitution gives us.

Some people, like Bob Kahn, one of the fathers of the TCP/IP protocols, which is the protocol that makes the Internet possible, says that net neutrality is a slogan that will halt innovation on the Internet. Statements like this are really hard to believe because of the enormous growth of the internet over the past 10 years.

One of the main reasons that Internet Service Providers would like to change the internet and harm net neutrality is to make the internet more profitable to them. Internet Service Providers would also be able to give higher priority to web sites and services to some companies, like those in the best interest of the ISP, and give lower priorities to websites and services of competitors and companies that don’t represent the best interest of the ISP. In this situation, without net neutrality, the internet would become a big monopoly owned by the company you get your Internet connection from.

In conclusion, protecting net neutrality is very important to keeping the internet the way it is, a very innovative, open, and competitive tool. Without it, our right to free speech would be put in jeopardy.

Just finished watching the premiere of the new Knight Rider…. and I am so disappointed. Even Team Knight Rider was better than this.

1. Why did they have to completely destroy the theme song? The classic theme song would have been so much better. As proven in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rf89OvmWako

2. The acting an the dialog is really bad… I mean really bad.

3. The “chase scene” in the first episode, if you can even call it that, it seams as though both cars are going 20, maybe 30 mph. All you see is 10 continuous minutes of Mike playing with the windshield-monitor thing.

4. While watching it you feel as though you are watching a 45 minute 1 hour Ford commercial. NBC should have chosen a car that wasn’t related to any car comp

any. That way there are 90% less shots of the logo on the front and back of the car.

5. What is with all of the cheesy relationships in this show. It used to be one man, one car.

6. What is with the transforming KITT? Yea, it’s cool and all, but it add nothing to the show.

7. I know NBC didn’t want to make the original again, and wanted to make it its own. But come on, NBC, you can do better than this.

8. Way too much green screen. It was bad green screen too. If you can easily tell its green screen, you shouldn’t use it, especially on an action based show.

The one thing I liked: Deanna Russo

Now I have only seen one episode of this remake (if you can even call it that) and I haven’t seen the TV movie that aired in mar. Should I give it another shot? The real question is, can it get any worse?

Can always watch the originals here. SurfTheChannel stopped there practice.

NBC - After this, I guess our government will be bailing you guys out next!

As a college student I need to use Blackboard quite a bit. Mainly for getting information on assignments and submitting them to my teachers 5 min before the deadline (12 midnight). But the sad thing is, as a Linux user, blackboard doesn’t allow me to upload my assignments. When uploading files to Blackboard I get the error message “Please enter a valid file”. This is because Blackboard has a little piece of JavaScript that checks what Operating System you are using (Windows, or OSx) so it can verify your file name and path. Linux is not even mentioned in this little script.

But there is hope for Ubuntu and Linux users. To make Blackboard get along with Linux you have to trick Blackboard into thinking you are using a mac. Instructions on doing this with Firefox and User Agent Switcher are below:

1. Download and install: User Agent Switcher

2. Restart Firefox

3. In Firefox open up User Agent Switcher’s options: Tools>User Agent Switcher>Options>Options…

4. In User Agent Switcher’s options click on “User Agents” on the left to bring you to the list of currently set-up user agents.

I’ve found a really cool layout for myspace that will basically change your profile to look like facebook. It takes a little coding work and there are some minor problems, but they have been fixed (by me). So make sure you look at the comments also as your adding it.

This is for the comments on the site:

I’ve fixed the problem of the links. Basicly you don’t get the FRIEND-ID in your URL (ex. myspace.com/NOT_YOUR_FRIEND-ID). Instead what I did was find the FRIEND-ID by (take off the facebook mimic layout by deleting the like to meet section first) looking at the the number for a link location like “View Pics”, which you will see is something like:

http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewAlbums&friendID=SOME_NUMBER

SOME_NUMBER is your unique number that you use for FRIEND-ID. Then it works

Also, @Kal. I think I know what you mean by double spaces for the text on the right. I was trying to make a contact me and a networks, brithday, etc. thing mimicking facebook where it is single spaced.

What you do is add this code in the about me section:

div.left {
width:120px;
clear:both;
}

and then for text that you want single spaced instead you use
the <div>
tag instead of the
<p>
tag like this:

<div class="left">Political Views:</div>

<div class=”right”>

Liberal

</div>

Step Brothers was a pretty funny movie. When I first saw the preview I thought it was going to be dumb. It was much better than I thought. The plot was very funny. How could two 40 year old children trying to find there place in life not be funny. This was one of the better Will Farrell comedy movies. I would not recomend going to see this movie in theaters, but it is one you should rent.

I just have to say omg you have to see this movie. I was on the edge of my seat for almost half of the film. While there were some slow parts, they were not long enough to effect how great the movie is. I’m not going to talk about the plot because every one hates spoilers. I have to say that this was the best Batman movies I have ever seen. Well, until the next one where David Tenant is rumored as a possible actor for the roll of the Riddler.
