284 More Computers Embracing Open

The Howard County public library, in Maryland, has been running all open source since 2006. They have over 284 computers running an Ubuntu based OS with OpenOffice. I mean how great is that. Just imagine how much of our tax dolars would have been spent to install Microsoft’s Windows and Office suite. Umm… thousands! I’m really excited to see an embrace of community driven Open Source software being used so close to my home. Tear…

Well all of this means that us at SnyderBlogs are taking a field trip this week to the Howard County Library. We hope to give you an update later this week after visiting. In the mean time you can always check out OpenOffice.org and Ubuntu (Hardy is comming out soon!).
